Special Project: The World Needs More Canada

The world today can be scary place, and this is why it needs more Canada. Werner Patels would like to raise funds to acquire rights to books (fiction and non-fiction) or longform essays (on topics such as politics, society, the environment, the arts, etc.) published in Canada (in English or French) in order to translate them into German. The German-speaking market (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, several other regions across Western, Central and Eastern Europe) is full of avid readers thirsting for inspiring stories as well as forward-looking ideas originating in Canada.Werner Patels translates from English and French to German. Hopefully, once the project has gotten off the ground and raised sufficient funds, it will be possible to hire and/or refer translators for additional languages.Canada has always been home to remarkable minds (Margaret Atwood, for example), and as a country with two main official languages (English and French), it produces a lot of stories and food for thought. Not all of it has been or is being translated into other languages for readers beyond the borders of Canada. The time to change this is now.Link to fundraiser
